How Follow updates works

Following a document controls which document updates you're notified about. You start following a document in these cases:
  • You make a substantial edit to it. Everyone who contributed to the edit starts following it. Small changes, like fixing a typo, don't add followers.
  • You're assigned as a verification owner for the document, or you belong to a group assigned as owners.
  • You turn on Follow updates yourself from the three-dot menu in the top right of the document.
Some actions don't make you follow a whole document:
  • Creating a document doesn't turn on Follow updates.
  • Commenting follows only that comment thread, not the document.
  • Being mentioned notifies you about that specific update, but doesn't make you follow the document.
To stop getting updates from a document, open the three-dot menu in the top right and turn off Follow updates. To stop following a comment thread, use the three-dot menu on the thread and choose Unfollow the thread. Once you unfollow a document, automatic triggers won't add you back.

Other Email Preferences

At the bottom of the Notifications section, you can opt in (or out) of product updates and knowledge management insights.
